This position will have two direct reports with line responsibility for up to eight employees and will report in to the Senior Director of Operations. The Manager of Settlement Operations has overall responsibility and strategic direction for the daily Clearing, Settlement, and Reconciliation of card payments, compliance with corporate policies, risk mitigation, leveraging new technologies, and process improvements within the Operations group. Job Responsibilities: Assess and recommend automated payment processes Develop and implement standards, policies and procedures Maintain and develop Clearing, Settlement, and Reconciliation procedures and manuals Serve as Subject Matter Expert in the on-boarding of new Partners Maintain Net Settlement Agreements Maintain and manage relationship with Settlement Agent Develop relationships with new Settlement Agents Manage and develop relationships with new Issuing Banks Oversee Settlement Failures and negotiate to satisfactory conclusion Daily Management of Clearing, Settlement, and Reconciliation processes Serve as Subject Matter Expert to all cross-functional groups Oversee Clearing, Settlement, and Reconciliation team Skills/Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field 10+ years in a leading card, payment operations, or payment association environment 2-3 years accounting experience Must possess at least 5 years experience managing a team in payment processing, debit card operations, Internet payments, ACH payment processing, or charge-backs Thorough knowledge of NACHA, credit card association rules, regulations and consumer payments regulations Excellent Leadership skills and experience as a Change Management Leader Superior skills in writing and documenting procedures, manuals, and risks Ability to develop and execute comprehensive project plans Must have the ability to negotiate agreements with payments processing vendors Solid understanding of payment processing including debit card, Internet payments, ACH payment processing, general accounting principles, and charge-back issues Solid understanding of bilateral, and multilateral Net Settlement Proficiency in the Core Principles for Systemically Important Payment Systems Firm understanding of Multi-currency Settlement Proficiency in general back-office payment processing, Clearing, Settlement, and Reconciliation principles Proficiency in SOX 404 and SAS70 requirements pertaining to Settlement All eligible candidates must be able to meet NetSpend’s Background Check policy: able to pass drug test; no felonies and/or misdemeanors on criminal history; less than $4,000 in collections and/or charge-offs on credit check.
